Erie, Pennsylvania

Delve into the rich history of the Bizzarro family and their remarkable contributions to the world of boxing, starting from the early 1900s. Discover how Joseph Bizzarro, a first-generation Italian immigrant, set the foundation for a family legacy. During World War II, Joseph's refusal to fight against American soldiers led to his assignment as a cook, an event that shaped his family's future. Learn how Johnny and Louis Bizzarro, inspired by radio broadcasts of professional boxing matches, embarked on their own boxing careers. Johnny began his professional journey in 1958, amassing an impressive record of 33 wins and three losses. Louis also achieved success, going undefeated in his first four professional fights. The Bizzarro legacy continued with the next generation of fighters, including Angelo, John, and Lou Bizzarro Jr., Anthony, who have all made significant contributions to the boxing scene in Erie. Today, the younger generation of the Bizzarro family continues to participate in charity boxing events, keeping the family tradition alive and well. Join us as we celebrate the Bizzarro family's century-long dedication to boxing and their lasting legacy in the Erie community.
